I’m sorry but everytime I read of a solution for all the plastic and microplastic in our environment being eaten by a microbe, I can’t help but think of Crichton’s Andromeda strain, where most of the plastic being eaten was vitally useful. A story that should be in the back of anyone’s mind of anyone expecting a biological solution. The world is rife with examples of invasive species that were initially brought in to solve a problem, or simply looked attractive.
