@landley The problem I have with *BSD is the license ecosystem just encourages bigger badder actors to do wholesale ingesting of BSD licensed code and strip the copyright and never contribute back to the community. There was one point where GPL enforcement meant you could not just grab the linux kernel and pull an Apple BSD to MacOS makeover and never release any new code.
Maybe the answer here is security updates and proving you have the ability to have humans actually respond to critical zero-days? Does Linux still have this, or is there enough to fork the kernel and require every new driver or patch to have human "signed-off-by", and still keep the mostly theoretical GPL protection, or is there some way to create this kind of ecosystem with a BSD?
