I can't tell you how glitch-soc's Markdown formatting works, but I can assure you that BBCode formatting works perfectly, because I regularly use Mastofeed with my Friendica account! Here you can see an excerpt from the Friendica guide where I explained how to use Mastofeed:

Please note that BBCode is a true markup language, while Markdown is practical but extremely crude; some of Mastofeed's formatting, such as parentheses that enclose entire sections of the source RSS feed, may conflict with the Markdown formatting intended for Mastodon Glitch links.
