"dmatrix". The ultimate (and definitive) cmatrix clone.
This is it, lads. The ultimate cmatrix clone there is.
It prioritizes [i.imgur.com/YNU0hYW.png](super low CPU usage) (tested on a orange pi 5 max). With kanji support. And all the expected flags and hotkeys you get from cmatrix working OOTB.
It can’t get any better than this.
To install: Download the tarball. Unpack it. Then run “make -j$(nproc)”. It’ll generate a “dmatrix” binary. Then copy the binary to its respective directory with “sudo cp dmatrix /usr/local/bin/.”. And run the binary by simply typing “dmatrix”.
Requirements: You’ve got to install the kanji fonts (sudo apt -yq install fonts-noto-cjk fonts-vlgothic if you are on debian.).And set up your “locale” accordingly. (Just run “locale” and check if everything is fine.).
This is under the “Do Whatever You Want” license. It should be self-explanatory.

Do you think c/opensource might be a better place to post all these little applications? Perhaps with a url instead of an embedded link?

Why are you hosting a tarball in a git repo? Where is the source for this?

ultimate ‘cmatrix’ clone… but it uses arbitrary Chinese characters, not kana-based characters.
