I keep looking at AI and thinking that it's promising the same things object oriented programming was "supposed" to do, only people are taking the claims much more seriously. People seem to have become more credulous over three decades, not more critical.

@dnkboston@apobangpo.space don't leave out high-level languages, structured programming, 4GLs, Web 2.0, and no-code. All have been touted as being absolutely revolutionary, and yet programming is still difficult, because programming is about codifying the real world, and the real world is messy af.
