It's both, depending on perspective. You emigrate from America to Zimbabwe according to other Americans. To Zimbabweans, you have immigrated to Zimbabwe from America.

Right. You don't contradict me. You emigrate *from* somewhere if that's your subject. And you immigrate *to* somewhere. To put it more simply. You can emigrate *from* America. Or you can immigrate *to* America.
