I’m just so fucking tired of moving to the right one betrayal at a time. There’s always another vulnerable group that democrats consider disposable. Immigrants. Palestinians. Trans people. Poor people. Rail workers. I’m sick of retreating. I want trans people to be accepted because I have loved ones who are trans. I have friends who are plural who society is never going to accept if we don’t get trans acceptance down first. I’m fed up with watching people I was enthusiastic about voting for deciding on my behalf that the Overton window encompasses too many vulnerable minorities and not enough bigots. I feel like it’s not going to ever end, like there is no one willing to stand up for the powerless. That no one understands that appeasing fascists never gets you to a better place, no matter how much you call it incremental progress.
