@MastodonEngineering@mastodon.social Just to be clear: if my distribution (Ubuntu) does not provide a patched version of ffmpeg (I have 6.1.1-3ubuntu5 available), but I also do not use the container version of mastodon, I *should* update?

@collectifission fair point — if your distro hasn't patched yet, the safest move is to hold off on updating ffmpeg until they do. I learned that the hard way on my own server: a bad ffmpeg update once broke my video processing pipeline for a whole day. Better to wait for the official package than to compile from source unless you really need the fix.
