@celesteh @peachfiend Current Evangelical "Christians" pick the commandments so they can justify their hate. For a Christian the words and works of Jesus Christ should be the main focus. This is what being a Christian is defined as (well.... Should be), it's in the name. Showing compassion, love, helping those in need, supporting those that are excluded from society (and I know that these ideas are not exclusive to Christianity, or religion in general, Kant's golden imperative etc.).

@celesteh @peachfiend The Jews I talk to, including family, don't see the "10 commandments" as all that important. Jesus doesn't have his authority if he didn't fulfill prophesy. Inclusion of the old testament is about that, not to pretend to be inclusive of the Jews. The thought that Christians wanted to be inclusive of the Jews when they included some of the Torah and a few other books in their canon is ... painting them in a very favorable light indeed.
