I loath how both "death of the author" (especially in the harry potter fandom) and "no ethical consumation under capitalism" are abused.
Death of the author was meant that when a work of fiction was published the author is assumed dead and cant be used to assertain "ultimate meaning" on the work. Not to justify buying a book of a genocidal terf. If you buy a book you will support the author and/or estate of the author.
Similary "there is no ethical consumption under capitalism" is not ment to justify you using AI, buy cheap slave labour goods or buy goods from genocidal maniacs. Its mean to elivate the anxiaty of someone wanting to buy the basic nessesities. If you can swing it you are expectes to buy as harmless as possible. But if you do not, dont worry you are not to blame. Its the system we build.
I fucking hate these terms have been hijacked by sharletons, terfs, nazi's and other moraly devoid excuses of a human to sell the idea of apathy towards products, books and other goods.
