But I suspect if I do so, the story will be dead and buried by the time I’m done since online journalism seems to have a 4 hour to 4 day lifespan now. So, that’s my issue. I like doing real research, but online incentives mean you make a fraction of the money possible from rushed out clickbait. Sigh…

  • @CM30@ohai.social It's the news dilemma overall, not just online. But sometimes a good story can catch fire, like the Bricks & Minifigs chicanery. My unsolicited advice, as a retired journalist: Budget a couple hours a workday to following up larger stories like this one, while reserving most of your time for the news that pays the bills.
