  @El_Thanaan@universeodon.com you're correct about your observations. I've been using social media since its birth. The first account that I had created was on Orkut. That was when l was 18. When l turned 20, l switched over to Facebook. I don't know how old you are, but Zuckerberg and l are of the same age. I did a lot of things on Facebook. Created multiple accounts using different names, just as l have an account here, one on Mastodon, a couple on pixelfed, opened one on chinwag. And l did a lot of things. Until last l decided to delete my account from facebook. These mainstream social media want to track the device that you're working from and also want to keep a track of your mobile, and even record your face and your voice. In fact, they want to control you. That's not what social was initially meant for. I'm finding this idea of federation much better. Social media is a platform where we can meet new people and make friends. It's outright idiotic when people complain that they're being harassed on social media. Why put in your real name and your real pic at all when you feel that people may harass you ??🤔🤔🤔 There's some issues with federated servers though. When l tried registering for this account and for creating accounts on some other servers, l found myself blocked. Nevertheless, l did manage to create my accounts. Later on @admin@hear-me.social explained to me that everyday, there might be a dozen spammer accounts from the south asian region. I admit that he's got a great knowledge of the south asian demographics. Otherwise, this is one region where Facebook and Twitter would come into great competition. If you look at it, these two companies have large markets in this region. The reason is that, the demand is immense. That being said, with the advent of AI, even non technical people would be able to set up their own servers to cater to their own needs.
