Soda is a Wine-based runner that facilitates easy running of Windows games and applications
Isn’t that basically what wine is supposed to do?

Soda, for Bottles, and the other one for Steam (also available in Bottles) are downstream projects.

Wine is entirely doing it I think, my understanding is the runner is just a fancy configuration tool that makes it easier to get specific things running. Wine has reversed engineered so much and it works great, but sometimes you may need to set several config values to something for a particular app to work right. Imo getting the current office suite running is probably more impressive than any non-game app out there. It’s using wine on hard mode.
