@autistics@fedigroups.social In the video (in the OP), the two philosophers go over how our modernist/post-modernist culture gets more and more "abstract" over time (FF in 37.59): https://youtu.be/V5W6wgZjY0o&t=2279 I submit for your consideration that the heightened abilities of autistic people to think in the abstract (which about 95% of the population sorely lack) just so happens to dovetail perfectly with this trend of increased abstraction in our culture. I highly doubt this is a coincidence. It's as though being Autistic is an optimization that "leaned into" this increased abstraction, and "leaned into" this "unicontext". Autistic people have less Social skills, but a key point Agnes Callard seems to be making, is that **the local context has stopped being as important, as the "unicontext" sort of "took over"**. So Autism is sort of like "fine, then let's optimize away from that less important local context, as the new, meaningful reality now, for better or for worse, is the unicontext." JFK Junior wants to find a cause of Autism. It's an optimization of sorts, towards this "unicontext" (longtime trend of increased abstraction) - not the result of Tylenol. #ActuallyAutistic

@autistics@fedigroups.social the embedded Youtube video in the OP article seems to be broken! But the video is still in Youtube: "A Philosopher’s One-Word Theory for Why the World Feels So Weird": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5W6wgZjY0o
