One time when I was single I went to the beach on my motorcycle. I parked next to a couple of other bikes, which was in a bit of a divet. When I finished at the beach, I got back to my bike and found one of the other bikes was owned by a cute girl. We started chatting for a bit and then she asked for help getting her bike out of the divet. I helped and we chatted for longer, so long she pushed her bike back in so a car could get by. We chatted more, pushed the bike out, chatted more, pushed the bike in. At this point I figured the interaction was going well as she could have left anytime, but kept going with the conversation. I asked for her number and if she wanted to ride sometime, she said sure and I handed her my phone. Later, I tried to call her and the number failed. During out conversation I remembered that she knew someone I worked with, so I went to him and handed him my phone and asked him to compare numbers. If it was completely off I would have gotten the hint and left it alone, if it was only a number off we both reasoned it could have been a fat-finger. It was only a digit off so he agreed to give me her real number and I reached out. Come to find out she meant to give me the wrong number because there was another guy she liked and didn’t want to ruin it by seeing another man. It was all cool and honestly a little funny for both of us, but she was nervous to turn down a man when she was alone because men can become aggressive. I understood and told her there were no hard feelings, I know there are far too many bad men out there. She reached back out to me a few years later, but by then I was states away and seeing someone else.
