I don’t know what the latest drama is about AI usage or anything like that but I do have some general thought about AI to share. Not everyone is mad at the right thing (we have been using neural network based algorithms for a LONG time to improve search, optimization, etc… this is not what we should be mad at)The majority of the negative effects of AI come from capitalism not the technology itself. Without capitalism we the people would have more control over the technology, how it’s used and who profits. We the people could even decide what use if any we want it doing. Yes this includes not using it at all if that is what the people want.Generative AI that can do “art” or code is inherently bad since it has stolen the work and labor of others and for a large part would not fly in a just society that values artists and workers.Some people are not going to understand the finer points of this and are going to make blanket statements about all adjacent technologies and we should be patient with them as their hearts are in the right place.
