Hello! This is the launch of KDE For People. I and others are calling for KDE to adopt a No-AI policy for KDE Plasma and Plasma Components. There has long been discussions in various parts of KDE, but recently there was a proposal to allow the use of Generative AI in KDE Plasma. We oppose this policy and invite you to show support of a ban on Generative AI in Plasma on the basis of a Pro-People outlook on KDE's future. kdeforpeople.com

@alexia@shrimp.starlightnet.work "but recently there was a proposal to allow the use of Generative AI in KDE Plasma" to be clear, KDE already allows AI generated code, this was actually a proposal to RESTRICT ai contributions, which is the opposite you say here!

@alexia@shrimp.starlightnet.work hello! i have a question on the goal of KDE for People. i wanted to know if the proposed ban would allow the "no support for AI tooling but go ahead as long as you assume total responsibility of PRs" approach of the linux kernel, and if no then what is the argument against that approach?

@alexia@shrimp.starlightnet.work Nate Graham has just released a blog post in response. It's not as bad as I feared but not great. https://pointieststick.com/2026/09/23/kde-and-ai-and-you-and-me/
