@badastro@mastodon.social I saw the full moon through a telescope the family had bought when I was 12. It was Sears, and it was a sturdy but not terribly powerful reflector scope.
The first thing I aimed it at was the moon. The first thing I saw were the mountains towards the terminator where you could see the shadows they cast, and the fact that the mountains rise made the edges of the moon jagged - not smooth.
