So I think getting an Athlon XP 1600+(-ish) processor, compatible motherboard, and GeForce 2 videocard is probably easier than buying a complete system.

Almost all socket A motherboards are 2002 or later - which is problematic because Mandrake 8.2 is from early 2002. This is so much harder than I thought.
