@Lydie@tech.lgbt This hack works because bluetooth (and wifi... and cordless telephones... and walkie talkies... and generic wireless devices that use dongledapters...) operates at 2.4GHz which is exactly the same frequency that microwaves operate at. The faraday cage of the microwave is optimized to contain EMR at that frequency band!

@dragonarchitect@rubber.social @Lydie@tech.lgbt And the reason they all use the same frequency is because that's a convenient frequency band that doesn't require a license to operate in in any jurisdiction we're aware of. -R

@dragonarchitect@rubber.social Does it work for you? I have tried this a couple of times and there some attenuation, but e.g. a Bluetooth audio stream keeps running when I put my phone into the microwave oven and close the door. @Lydie@tech.lgbt
