We have a gap between our fence and some bushes, so I planted a bunch of sunflower seeds this spring. I only got three to take, and of those, two were tiny and I doubt will lead to much. The one that was doing well, unfortunately, got trampled by the dog. But the bent stem appears to have healed itself, and today I finally saw yellow petals appear. So, I have one kinda sad looking, crooked sunflower coming in out of a full packet of seeds. But it makes me happy, and I'm pulling for it. Hopefully that crooked stem can support it once the big old flower head fully takes shape.
