Online publishing and hosting regulations (like the infamous Section 230) were designed for a web with a plethora of small-scale services. We either need a body of regulations specific to mega-platfoms, or regulations that hedge against them getting so overgrown in the first place.
Things like mandatory interop with similar services (like the EU's DMA), and online marketing regulations that hold platforms responsible for any post they're *paid* to publish (no S230 protections for ads).

To be clear, I wasn't arguing for a repeal of Section 230 and similar laws. They're still suitable for regulating small-to-media online services. Like fediverse hosts, for example. I was just pointing out that trying to apply laws appropriate to small services to mega-platforms is a bound to fail, as it has. #Section230
