We need to decouple from the US with haste, they will seed the worst elements among our populations to enforce their far-right agenda. The longer they are treated as trusted the more damage they will do.

@ciaranmak@mastodon.ie Decoupling is not going to be easy. There are a lot of people who have bought into the ideology over the years. You might have thought that after the Celtic Tiger years that people would be more jaded (I won't say cynical) about the American Dream (basically Gordon Gecko's "Greed Is Good") but I think that we've not learned any lessons other than eschewing overt/conspicuous consumption. We're a nation of cute hoors. We always have been. There are too many secret Trump/Nerd Reich/Musk fans here. It's the crypto-fascists at home that we need to worry about as much as the left-pondians.
