Heh. Just a few months ago, industry headlines were all "South African Marketing industry's newest enemy is AI slop" and it was all about how advertisers have realised they can just ask chatgpt to barf out a shitty looking ad with as many reverts as they like, at a speed and cost that absolutely beats the pants off any professional agency. And it's bad because oh no, the client is destroying their own brand because they lack the aesthetic sense and fine awareness of the whims of the market and other stuff like that.
Anyway it seems their winning strategy has been to generate their own slop but it's not a problem anymore because they're getting their cut.
And I'm hearing through the grapevine that a major South African bank just had to pull a very embarrassing ad a couple days ago after The Socials caught fire over their sloppy ad. Something about a woman in a dress.
I don't suppose anybody has a screengrab, do they? I have family with a professional interest in seeing what the fuss was all about 😉
