How do we as a society react to a pun? With hatred and anger lol. There’s the pain. People who enjoy telling puns also enjoy that reaction to them. The pain is how cringey the joke is. Absurd humor is my favorite! But alas the joke is how shocked you feel by the absurdity. You were not expecting what was said.
