They can't, because the Doomer narrative *is* the Booster narrative. To debunk the Doomer stuff (and it *is* bunk), you have to point out that it's based on pure fantasy that the mathy maths are going to combust into consciousness ... ... or if not consciousness, then some thinking, reasoning, self-improving entity. >>

@emilymbender@dair-community.social My doomer narrative isn’t the “sentient AI will wipe out humanity”. My doomer narrative is “putting earth’s resource exhaustion in overdrive will accelerate the anthropocene extinction”. It has nothing to do with what the slopfactories can or cannot do. It has to do with the simple fact that life needs a few valuable resources, and can exist only within the confines of a survivable climate and environment.
