@postmarketOS@social.treehouse.systems @dylanvanassche@fosstodon.org Having an MTP server freaks me out. It’s such huge attack surface. I really can’t image why we’d want such a feature on a modern device which has real networking (and network filesystem), can run syncthing, etc.
I’m not against folks implementing niche features, it’s just the “installed by default” part that discomforts me.

@whynothugo@fosstodon.org @postmarketOS@social.treehouse.systems usb-moded allows to dynamically add or remove USB modes and defaults to USB ethernet as before. MTP needs to be activated manually first and can be removed if desired thanks to these dynamic modes.

@whynothugo@fosstodon.org Calling MTP niche but network file transfer normal? MTP is the standard for USB file transfer on mobile devices... USB network is still an option but MTP works out of the box on any modern OS, it's not exactly niche.
