Isn't this akin to the PGP web of trust concept?
I particularly like the concept of purging everyone in a compromised branch by pruning the tree at the compromised node.

I think a web of trust is a much more powerful concept. Users should be able to choose how they distribute and delegate trust. The tree invite thing is what private torrent trackers have been doing for a long time.
