when i was in národní muzeum last friday i had a revelation. there were several installations. one was about the history of czechs as people, and it moved me, because there's a lot of commonality i feel with them despite being from such different cultures and corners of the world. so much shared trauma. and then there was a section on evolution of humans and they showed this skull of a person from thousands of years ago that they found in moravia or something. and when i saw them, i crouched down to their eye level, looked into where their glance once was and said "hi". and i also felt this way when i saw the pride flag in the 20th century history section. someone in 1980s sewn it. some gay or trans person. it was weathered and crunched up, but still here. someone felt the pain i did, someone suffered like i did, maybe someone died. but where we lost, they won. it's like i am shaking hands with all the people that have ever fought my battles.
