@deviantollam@defcon.social I doubt we can get permission, but a giant funeral pyre for the copilot logo in the parking lot at DEFCON might make us all feel better. Kind of like Burning Man, but much more cathartic.

@deviantollam@defcon.social I switched to IoT LTSC just to avoid this crap getting auto-forced into the system. The complete lack of opt-in is the most infuriating thing. It's my computer not Microsoft's.

@deviantollam@defcon.social Microsoft has shit in their own bed. And they don't care.

@deviantollam@defcon.social too many important people (read billionaires) have too much money tied up in AI being used by everyone as a mass surveillance machine to figure out how to extract as much wealth as possible from everyone so they can add it to their hoard in their underground bunkers where the have private water sources. Lizzard people are real, turns out they were actually dragons.

@deviantollam@defcon.social its pretty disgusting as a dev being forced into using it otherwise your job is gone. And then they’re trying to find a way to kill your job entirely anyways.

@deviantollam@defcon.social I have a policy to not send email when cranky, or worse. Yesterday, I failed to follow that policy. #AI #BigTech

@deviantollam@defcon.social Whenever somebody tells me how he used AI to do something, I have to think of this comic: (Source: https://www.twonks.co.uk)

@deviantollam@defcon.social I'm genuinely puzzled by the heightened emotions that these tools appear to elicit when some users install them, and how their reactions are not directed at the companies that produce them. I swear I've never seen that icon pop up when using my computer. Install something else?

@deviantollam@defcon.social Windows itself? Especially 8 and up. I mean everyone complains about Windows, even my brother who needs it to play his Bethesda games. No wait, Internet Explorer. Definitely Internet Explorer.

@deviantollam@defcon.social Well, DRM comes to mind... Which ironically is the complete opposite to AI, the only thing in common being that both solely serve big corporations' interests - which is why both are being universally despised.

@deviantollam@defcon.social I kid but Onedrive OS probably the closest I can think of in modern Microsoft history. Always on connectivity is probably a genuinely comparable topic though. A few years ago it was tried and was forced to be dropped by outrage but now it's getting reintroduced and it's just clearly what's going to happen outage or not. It's been slow rolled more. In some sense maybe that's the point. Exhaust people now, they're basically locked in regardless of how crap you make your product and in a few years reintroduce it when it's less of a visible issue

@deviantollam@defcon.social I agree 100%. My new boss came on board in January and I am not exaggerating in the slightest when I say I have never seen him speak even once without bringing up AI encouragingly. (Also during our one on one get to know each other he also mentioned how he recently discovered Atlas Shrugged)

@deviantollam@defcon.social With how many jobs it stands to eliminate, it's inevitable. There is too much money counting on it. It has that oh-so-captialistic virtue of "rich get richer, poor get poorer".
