@2legged@mastodon.ie I’m sure we’ll see lots of discounting but not for this reason. So far the government seems to have been absurdly generous with letting manufacturers get off with trading credits with each other to roughly meet targets. And these annual targets seem to be about how close you get by the end of the year rather than whether you maintained the target throughout the year.

@christineburns@mastodon.green My instinct is that this is probably a good application of credit trading. Dodgy or disastrous in most contexts, but in this case it's a generous non-governmental subsidy to makers who have actually got their EV act together.
