because i am Incapable of leaving things alone i am continuing to poke into building a nicolium docker container automagically, so all you need to do is map in files...
and i'm still running into the issue where a valid-seeming json file to configure it just. doesn't seem to apply properly? im tempted to copy it into the build step and then copy all of that into runtime.

ok yeah. i'm just thoroughly confused at this point. i can definitely build it with environment variables just fine (have been able to for a while) but i cannot get nicolium.json to map and be read correctly, even though it's been exported by a different nicolium instance than the one I'm on right now. i'll deal with this another time. too annoyed right now to think bout this more. at least i'm able to regularly reproduce the image now? though it's still pulling the latest commit to make it work which again, isn't super ideal in general. blegh. eepy. i wanna nap but i mustn't.
