@occult@vox.ominous.net I think what they mean is not that mastodon or the Fediverse is too difficult to figure out how to make work or even difficult to understand in principle. It's that they can't figure out how to make money off of it. They want to follow the money and look at the income stream and are shocked when they're told it doesn't have that. They don't believe it because they don't want to believe it, and therein their interest dies. The problem is not with Mastodon or the fediverse. The problem is with the audience. (and I can see this because I ran a bullet board system in the 1980s and 90s and understood Fidonet and Maximus. I remember trying to talk about that stuff to someone who ran a wildcat BBS and it was like talking to a brick wall. Hello, there are new crop of brick walls!) 🤦‍♂️
