more contact surface makes it lose less liquid into the table
because of the spoon basin remaining nonempty and
and there being less slope with less current due to it just forming a nonmoving puddle rather than an edge with significant current

@mi@awawa.cat @sashag@anarres.family @h5e@tech.lgbt but if you lick the spoon prior to placing it at the table, there will be no liquid. And minimizing the contact surface means that it won't really get dirty (unless the surface you put it on is exceptionally dirty) so you can reuse it after that.
