Are most scrap yards even accessible without a car? My country isn't nearly as car-centric as the US and it would still be a huge issue to try and go to a scrap yard on foot.

I think the bigger issue whether you can actually sell stuff like that at the scrap yard if you don't have license or something else that proofs that you got ur scrap legitimately.

Here where I live, yes, they're accessible, and I have people who go through my trash and recycling for cans every trash day (to the point we keep those on top so they don't have to dig.) Usually walking with their commandeered carts.
