@q@glauca.space CC-BY-NC-ND is also Creative Commons, but nowhere even near free… It doesn’t say which, only 4.0 (or an equivalent libre licence, which is good), except minima for some specialisations like: Working timetable: CC-BY-NDTrain composition: CC-BY-NC-ND […] This is… it does not make the data free, it opens possibilities of lawsuits for people who report on trains because they “could” have made unlicenced derivatives of such data. Fucking Creative Commons. I told them when they asked for feedback before preparing 4.0 to split Restricted Commons off the open licences, but noooooo… (they are also full in on “AI” slop).

    @mirabilos@toot.mirbsd.org @q@glauca.space The type of CC license doesn't matter here; it's just plain nonsense to license factual information under any of those terms. Composing a train is not art. A timetable is not a creative work. Plain factual data about it is not copyrightable work at all. Stapling a license to it does not make sense.
