Games don't need actual gameplay because the gameplay is acting like a retard on social media, and the game just provides like 4 characters and about as many memes to act as identifiers.

And this shit seems to specifically be a product of the 2010s internet. The 2000s internet was run by Zelda and Final Fantasy fans fighting each other on GameFAQs. Mainstream social media, streaming, and lore videos gave birth to a fully passive gaming consoomer that parasitizes every fandom.
