@InternetEh I’ve seen this IRL too. People at work “talked to the database” and took answers at face value. Caused confusion for a week or two, because the hallucinated answer was being shared around before someone actually checked the data, and of course found the complete opposite.

@jimgar @InternetEh Even without ai it’s way too easy to fuck up this kind of data handling. I work a lot with timeseries data and you’d be surprised how often you find dashboards taking say the max of a network packet counter instead of its derivative to see which interfaces are busy. No wonder the “eh that’ll do” machine won’t get it right if it’s learned from averaging out human understanding. Or lack thereof.
