As a European: what the fuck is a “non-working holiday”? Holiday means you’re off work, right? Is it a holiday or not? “Non-working holiday” lol, American work culture never ceases to amaze me.

The US has zero mandatory days off. That includes the 11 annual federal holidays(inauguration day is a 12th but it’s every 4 years). If your employer gives you those days off it’s a ‘perk’. Same with paid time off. I work on a half dozen or so federal holidays and get a the other half dozen off.
