I finished the Our Journey Continues expedition in No Man's Sky yesterday. I'm actually glad I pushed through the horribleness that was playing in first person in the early stages as this expedition was such a love letter to the long time player base.
It had me all nostalgic, even for things I don't enjoy (no spoilers). It is a walk through the game from release to current time. And hearing Sean Murray himself talking on the communicator at each milestone, talking about the development process was a unique treat.
I even got sucked back in to the game itself, as the expedition had us touch on each of the updates and I'd never done the pet battles or the latest update which involves becoming a space station owner. Last night I spent quite a bit of time grinding reputation so I can take over the space station in my favorite base, located in the 256th galaxy, Odyalutai. I have a base in every one of the 256 galaxies but hang out most at the end of the line.
No Man's Sky is a delight. The studio is awesome, the devs clearly love their player base. This old harridan is having some fond and mushy feelings about the game on waking today.
