It also validates a feeling I had when I found something that seemed to scratch an itch recently, but that encouraged such submissions, albeit with caveats. It struck me that there was a gap in the bridge of trust normally an essential in FOSS. I decided not even to test it.

It should serve as a checklist for the model creators, as each point on that list is avoidable. They don't *have* to steal content, exploit poor people, burn coal for compute and scrape the Internet to death (that's mostly agents rather than models, btw). I've spent a lot of time trying to figure out which corners of the industry are not populated by assholes and I'm directing our AI use that way. Spoiler: none of them are in the US.
