@switchingsoftware won't list software which can be self hosted and is open source, if it doesn't have good enough privacy tech. This should probably be clearer/labelled on the can. The maintainers' preference is software with that specific dimension of privacy, so it ends up being a pretty specific list; not so much focused on being a dictionary of OSS alternatives.
