Funny but I feel like the intended meaning is that “something” is the same thing it both cases. Although I can’t think of what they could have both done.

If that is the intended meaning then it is an even more moronic take. It is like that “If Trump cured cancer you would rather die of cancer than take the cure” thing which smoothbrains also like to regurgitate. Even if Trump somehow was not so stupid that he barely knows what cancer is, then he would never spend his time curing it, because he would still use all his time grifting and being petty. Other people don’t exist in his universe and never has. “If Trump did (completely fictional thing that will never happen even if there was an unlimited number of parallel universes) then you would still not like it”. It is not even a strawman fallacy, it is something much stupider.
