@KatyElphinstone@mas.to This really resonates with what my family went through before our kid was diagnosed. There was a lot of effort put into controlling minorly odd behaviors like chewing on pencils or tipping back in a chair, but as the attempts to shape behavior intensified, the behaviors didn't really subside so much as get replaced with ones that really were problematic, like stealing stuff from teachers. At the same time we saw growing evidence of pretty intense stress (e.g. enuresis in a kid who previously had no bladder concerns). It was truly insane behavior on the part of the teachers, looking back, and we as parents went along with it because we didn't know what else to do. An awful time in our lives.
