The ZEV mandate introduces a phased, year-on-year increase in required zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) sales as a percentage of total manufacturer output.
2026: 33% for cars | 24% for vans
2027: 38% for cars | 34% for vans
2028: 52% for cars | 46% for vans
2029: 66% for cars | 58% for vans
2030: 80% for cars | 70% for vans
2035: 100% for both cars and vans
So, 30% EVs this month is still a bit behind the requirement for 2026 but it shows that manufacturers are perfectly capable of meeting targets.
