This may be a little surprising, because you'd think that they could have simply used MSVC's front end. They had the MSVC source code, and its authors, and everything. But no; it was apparently easier for them to use EDG's. Also: if you've ever read any part of the C or C++ standards, you'll find the corresponding parts of the EDG src very very very very very easy to read. It is an absolute joy.
