soo fucking tired of “master/slave” being used to describe device pairs, processes, what have you i was watching a video on uart/i2c/spi and in the spi section they specifically mention that they’re also called controller/peripheral.. and then choose not to use them, despite it literally being called serial peripheral interface at least use parent/child or something. that connotation isn’t great but at least you’re not invoking the entire genocidal history of supremacy culture to describe connecting two devices like controller/peripheral is right there, or host/client, or main/sub, major/minor, anything else im glad some of it is finally changing, like most git forges defaulting to main, and git itself changing the default branch name, uh, 21 years after its initial release, but i cannot see how anyone would in good conscious choose to keep using names like that im sure it’s reflective of the utter lack of social awareness in tech and the current gestures vaguely but fuck it just reads like a dogwhistle at this point
