I decided to see what the fuck-up machine would try to do given this problem statement. The core of its approach was correct and what I knew immediately was going to be how I'd go about it, but as usual it overcomplicated everything and spit out code with some embedded superstitions soaked up from the web (and lies to justify those superstitions when asked for clarification!) that would have an undue maintenance burden if I took the output as a solution to the problem.
