Am listening to the first Bookshop Detectives book (Dead Girl Gone), and whoever was responsible for casting decided to go with an Ocker and a Pom as the narrators, which was certainly...a choice...for a book set in Havelock North. So, not only are Maori and Polynesian words being butchered on the regular, so are some of the English ones. And they're not even consistently wrong! Whanau (correctly-ish) one minute, wha-noo the next. I had to literally pause to work out that the narrator meant 'Petone' as she pronounced it peeee-*rhymes with phone*. ๐Ÿ™ƒ The Zild accents aren't the worst I've ever heard - that's not saying much tho, is it? ๐Ÿ˜’ - but they're still bloody grating. Just...ack! ๐Ÿ˜ฉ /rant
