The NHS is rolling out Martha’s Rule to every A&E department in England, giving patients and their family, as well as hospital staff, the right to ask for an urgent second opinion about their care. The expansion of the scheme, named after Martha Mills who died aged 13 after her parent’s concerns were not listened to, is expected to be complete by March 2028.
